WAJDOVCI - the other cimbalom folklore band...

The beginning of the WAJDOVCI band dates back to the 80’s. It was originally founded as family trio of Wajda brothers, performing traditional Czech folklore music. However, during time it has grown substantially in terms of music styles performed and musicians involved. The original sources of folklore - the Moravian-Silesian and South Moravian folk music - have been extended to the masterpieces of the Slovak, Hungarian, and Romanian folk music, too. The professional jazz pianist and composer Jura Wajda gradually became the artistic leader of the band around the millennium-turn. His influence imprinted the characteristic sound of the group by combination of folklore elements with jazz harmony and rhythm. This sound, combined with excellent instrumental skills and virtuoso performance of all band members acquired enthusiastic fans. For more than quarter of century, the audience can enjoy the band not only in the Czech Republic, but also at various festivals, contests and concerts all over the world. The music of WAJDOVCI spreads extraordinary good vibrations. Its magic and energy will either fix you to your seat or make you dance!
